" Splendor of the Past, Future Phoenix. "
After winding through the plain of Haouz (Marrakech S-E quadrant), we took our eye on a bled located at the foot of the Atlas, decorated with the Monastery of the Visitation, and enjoying a great story and a consequent heritage, even if degraded over time. In addition, Tazert offered us a preferred partner, the local association Adoua Tazert Glaoua.
Tazert is a Berber village at the foot of the Atlas, 60 kilometers east of Marrakech. It has about 3,600 inhabitants, who all benefit from electricity and running water soon. Most men, around 80% illiterate, are working on a shoe string in large cities and participate in harvesting, assuming rainfall has been sufficient. 90% of women are illiterate. There are currently two primary schools and one college.

The association « Adoua Tazert Glaoua » was created in May 1998 by Malika and Brahim Bik with the aim at:
- Participating in the economic, cultural, educational, sporting and social development of the village,
- Managing and optimizing the use of water resources,
- Cooperating with other associations with similar objectives.
It improves the conditions for children education, set up literacy classes and computer training, embroidery, etc… esp. for the village women.
